The opportunity

HEDL is already in the Opal deck. The execution gap is on the floor: PCAs never see which residents opted in, drinks rounds default to water, breakfast in bed gets forgotten, 90-day trials lapse without a family follow-up. Mealward closes that loop — one toggle on the resident profile flows through to the morning order screen, the kitchen ticket, the family message, and the monthly billing CSV.

What it does today

  • HEDL packages on the resident profile (drinks, breakfast, Wi-Fi, Foxtel) with a live daily charge.
  • Drinks-tier filtering on the order screen: alcohol shows for opted-in residents only.
  • Day-75 trial-end alert drafts a family message; mark sent for the audit trail.
  • What-if simulator: drag a slider, see annualised uplift across the facility in real time.
  • Monthly billing CSV that already nets out resident absences.

Aged Care Act 2024 alignment

The Act commenced 1 November 2025. Section 23 sets out a six-category Statement of Rights that registered providers must demonstrate their practices are compatible with. Mealward records preferences, dislikes (V2), IDDSI levels (V2), HEDL opt-ins, and family contact on the resident profile, audits every change, and surfaces them on the floor — that’s the practice. Privacy and security

  • All resident data hosted in Sydney (ap-southeast-2). No data leaves Australia.
  • Row-level security; per-facility, per-role read and write scoping.
  • Audit log of inserts, updates, and deletes against clinical records.

Pilot path

  • Week 1–2: Mornington Bay live, HEDL packages migrated, staff onboarding.
  • Week 4: Second site live, cross-facility leaderboard active.
  • Week 12: Board-ready uplift numbers, before/after by wing, family-message audit.

90-day milestone-gated commercials. No lock-in beyond month-by-month after the pilot.

IDDSI fluid (0–4) and texture (3–7) badges on every order screen, dislikes captured separately from clinical allergens, structured clinical “watch out” alerts, and resident standing orders for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
